Kalusha Bwalya To Attend Michael Essien’s Peace Match

Zambian legend Kalusha Bwalya has confirmed that he will play in next month’s peace match between an Africa XI and World XI.

Ghana’s Michael Essien, an Africa Union Peace Ambassador, is organizing the peace match in Accra on 25 May.

The charity game, to help promote peace in Africa, is set to be played in the Ghanaian capital.

Kalusha, who is among several African legends invited for the game, says he is honoured to be invited to play in this important game.

“It is a great honour and privileged to be invited to play in this important match and I confirm my attendance,” said Kalusha who is a member of the Caf executive committee.

Essien will captain an African side that will include George Weah, Abedi Pele and Roger Milla.

Essien’s Chelsea team-mate Ashley Cole will captain the World XI, with England star Shaun Wright-Phillips also set to play.

Other former African stars who are set to feature include Ghana greats Tony Baffoe, Tony Yeboah, Sammy Kuffuor as well as Morocco’s Raber Madjer.

Many current players like Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Nwankwo Kanu, Kolo and Yaya Toure, Salomon Kalou and Stephen Appiah have also confirmed they will be playing.

As well as Cole, Wright-Phillips, many more players from European clubs have been invited to take part.

The game is part of Essien’s commitment to promoting and raising the awareness of peace in Africa using football.

The funds raised from the game will be used to enhance peace initiatives across Africa.
