Guus Hiddink
has told Roman Abramovich that he will decide in June whether to accept Chelsea’s offer to become their next sporting director, Goal.com can reveal.

Hiddink is also weighing up competing offers from Ajax and PSV Eindhoven, who want the Dutch legend to accept a similar role to the one offered at Stamford Bridge.

According to sources close to the situation, the 64-year-old “doesn’t fancy being a club manager again” and his future involvement in the game will be either a senior executive role at an elite club or another international post.

Hiddink, who has also managed Netherlands, South Korea, Australia and Russia, has insisted that for now he wants to concentrate on guiding Turkey to the Euro 2012 finals.

Turkey’s fate is likely to be decided by their qualifier away to second-placed rivals Belgium on  June 3. A defeat will scupper Hiddink’s hopes of winning a November play-off spot and will open up the possibility of being available immediately.

“Hiddink has been approached by Chelsea, Ajax and PSV Eindoven to be their sporting director,” a source told Goal.com. “He is not in a position to make a decision at the moment but could be in June depending on how Turkey get on.

“At his age his ambitions are focused on a more technical role. He doesn’t fancy being a club manager again. If he goes anywhere, it would be for at least two or three seasons to develop something.”

In 2009, Hiddink came in at Chelsea as a short-term measure following the dismissal of Luiz Felipe Scolari, and juggled his job as coach of Russia with a three-month spell in charge at Stamford Bridge. During his brief reign, the Londoners finished third in the Premier League, won the FA Cup and were controversially defeated by eventual winners Barcelona in the Champions League at the semi-final stage.

Despite his friendship with Abramovich, the Chelsea owner, and his fond memories of his time in west London, it is not inevitable that Hiddink would opt for the Londoners ahead of the two Dutch giants should Turkey fail in their Euro 2012 qualification.

Ajax are in the process of completing the restructuring of their coaching and boardroom set-up over the summer following a Johan Cruyff-led coup and want Hiddink to be in charge of identifying, scouting and recruiting talent.

PSV have also offered Hiddink a “technical” position that would allow their widely respected incumbent sporting director Marcel Brands to take on more of a general manager role.
