EC Prepared For Tema NPP Primaries

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—Handed a setback by one judge this week, the NFL is preparing to call on another court for help in this fight with the players over the present and future of the $9 billion business. U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson sided with the players and lifted the lockout, and she said Tuesday she’ll hear from them Wednesday morning before considering the league’s request to put her ruling on hold.

The Tema Office of the Electoral Commission, has assured Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the three Constituencies of the Metropolis, of its preparedness to ensure smooth parliamentary primaries on Saturday.

The constituencies are Tema East, Tema West and Kpone-Katamanso.
Mr Gabriel Manu, Tema Metropolitan Electoral Officer, told the Ghana News Agency on Thursday that, his outfit has made ready, the ballot boxes and the indelible ink needed for the voting on Saturday, April 30.

Mr Manu said the ballot papers would be received by his outfit by Friday. He said four people would be contesting for the Tema East slot, three for Kpone-Katamanso, while Tema West would go for acclamation since only one person was contesting.

He added that Tema West would have their election at Subin Valley, at Community Seven, Kpone-Katamanso at Apollo Centre at Kpone, and Tema West, at the WEAC Centre at Community Five.

Mr Manu said his outfit was also yet to receive the photo registers of the Delegates from their various Constituency Offices.
He said he was aware that five Delegates would represent each polling station, in addition to an unspecified number of executives.
Tema East has 114 polling stations; Tema West, 81, while Kpone-Katamanso, 37.

Mr Manu said three Electoral Officers each would conduct the elections at the various centres. He urged delegates to be at the centres on time for voting to start on schedule.
