Cameroon have qualified for the final of the 2011 African Youth Championship after beating Egypt in a nerve-racking penalty shootout that ended 4-2 for the junior Lions.

Both teams went underway in an envisaged cracker and couldn’t break the goalless deadlock till fulltime, prompting a mandatory extra time, which ended scoreless as well.

Cameroon sustained a slight domination during both halves of proceedings but met with the North Africans’ pacy play pattern that mostly checked the Lions’ effective advancement.

Egypt though had a number of goal chances but the Cameroon goalkeeper stood in their way.

The extra time played out almost like the fulltime, with both sides making the same mistakes of failing to connect their finishing passes in the adversary’s box area.

Egypt wasted two of their kicks during the shootout while Cameroon transformed four of theirs, clinching a spot for the final against Nigeria slated for Sunday at the Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg.
