Speaking to reporters after Porto’s 5-1 victory over Villarreal in the first-leg of their Europa league semi-final tie on Thursday evening, he quelled suggestions that the 33-year-old could be prized out by bigger clubs in Europe in the summer.
Villas-Boas is rated as one of the best young coaches and has already led Porto to the Portuguese league title this season. The tactician is said to be the ‘new Jose Mourinho’ in some quarters and there are reports claiming that he could be offered a job at one of the European giants for next season.
However, Da Costa insists that Villas-Boas will not leave in the summer and said: “For starters, that is a scenario I do not consider, because he has said that he does not even want to engage in talks.
“He even said today, when he was told Juventus would come here, that it must have been for them to see him flaunt his suit with FC Porto’s badge on it. He has said countless times he does not want to leave. If he does not want to leave, why should I be worried, if I do not want that either?
“I am absolutely sure he will be here next year.”
Villas-Boas was appointed the Porto coach at the start of the 2010-11 season. He coached Academica in 2009-10.
