Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew is in no mood to endlessly celebrate the three goals he scored that catapulted Marseille to the top of the French league.
With six matches left, Marseille claimed top spot in Ligue 1 with a 4-2 win over Nice on Wednesday courtesy of a Andre Ayew hat-trick and a goal by his younger brother Jordan.
Despite the victory and his personal heroics, Ayew insists they must concentrate on winning the title instead of continuously celebrating the hat-trick.
“He had been feeling great for a while, but nothing is done yet, we have to forget about it (the Nice game) and shift our focus to the next game,” said Andre Ayew.
Second-placed Lille, who had been leading the league since December 5, are likely to at least briefly regain top spot on Saturday as they host already-relegated Arles-Avignon.
Marseille have 61 points to Lille’s 60 and obviously, nobody at the Provence club is taking anything for granted.
