On-loan Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has expressed his delight about scoring against Arsenal in Bolton’s 2-1 victory over the Gunners, a result which practically ended the north London club’s title bid.

The youngster, who has scored seven time in nine games since joining Bolton on loan in January, expects to receive plenty of thanks from his team-mates back at Stamford Bridge.

“I think I’ve done the boys at Chelsea a bit of a favour, I’m sure I’ll be getting a few texts,” the 21-year-old told The Sun.

“I think this result makes it a two-horse race. It’s between Chelsea and Manchester United now.

“It’s going to be a tense four games but hopefully Chelsea will take the title.”

Despite impressing since being given a regular starting role, the young Englishman could be back at Stamford Bridge next season fighting for a place with Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

Sturridge added: “At the moment I’m just pleased to help Bolton but to be able to help my actual club too is great.

“I hope I can get to double figures for Bolton. It would be amazing.”

The young striker was shipped out on loan to the Reebok Stadium this January as incoming £50 million signing Fernando Torres made his way to the west London club. However, the Spaniard has failed to impress in a Chelsea shirt scoring only once against West Ham last weekend since his arrival.

Talking about his future potential striker partner, Sturridge said: “I was delighted to see Torres get his first goal.”
