Barely a month after commencing commercial production of oil in Ghana, Tullow Oil has hit gas in its Tweneboa-3 appraisal well in the Deepwater Tano licence.
The leading oil producer in Ghana encountered gas condensate in excellent quality sandstone reservoirs. According to Tullow, the first leg was drilled to calibrate the potential of an area with a very weak seismic response.
Tullow indicates that work is underway to integrate seismic, pressure and hydrocarbon phase data in order to progress development options for the Tweneboa and Enyenra (Owo) fields in the Greater Tweneboa area.
Meanwhile, operators of the Accra Offshore Block will this week begin mobilization efforts to acquire seismic data over portions of the Offshore Block.
This follows the arrival of the Polarcus Naila in Ghana late last year. The Polarcus Naila is the seismic acquisition vision which will acquire seismic data over portions of the block on behalf of TAP Oil, the operator of the Block, and its partners which include Challenger Minerals, AFEX International and GNPC.
Over two hundred million barrels of oil are expected to be generated from the harvest blocks in the offshore Accra-Keta basin area.
