Appendicitis rules out Bolivian keeper
Bolivia goalkeeper Hugo Suarez will miss Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier at home to Uruguay in La Paz after having surgery following a bout of appendicitis, the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) said.
“It was an appendicitis and he was operated on last night,” said FBF spokesman Javier Silva.
Bolivia’s Spanish coach Xabier Azkargorta will play Sergio Galarza in Suarez’s place, media reports said.
South American champions Uruguay will be out to consolidate their hopes of qualifying as they try to put distance between themselves and nearest rivals, fifth-placed Chile and sixth-placed Venezuela, following demoralising losses in Colombia (4-0) and Argentina (3-0).
