Kalu Uche top scores in Turkey
Eagles outcast Kalu Uche has shot to the top of the scorers’ chart in Turkey after he hit target for Kasimpasa against Fenerbache.
The 29-year-old Uche, who continues to be left out of the Super Eagles by coach Stephen Keshi, has now scored six goals to become the leading scorer in the Turkish Super Lig.
Uche scored in the 73rd minute to give his Istanbul club a 1-0 lead over Joseph Yobo’s Fenerbahce in the game they went on to win 2-0 on Saturday.
His club remain in second place on 12 points from six matches, a point behind leaders Galatasaray.
Nigeria-born winger Sidney Sam was the super sub as he scored both goals for Bayer Leverkusen after coming on as a second half substitute at home against Greuther Furth.
Sam, who has yet to decide whether he wishes to change his allegiance to Nigeria after he played for Germany at age-grade levels, struck in the 50th and 62 minutes on Saturday.
Leverkusen are now seventh on the table with 10 points from six matches.
Malta record goal scorer Obinna Obiefule scored a brace to help Mosta to a 3-1 win over Floriana in Malta Super League game also on Saturday.
Obiefule, who score 34 goals in the league last season, opened the scoring against Floriana in the ninth minute and he got his second in the 64th minute through a penalty to give his team 3-0 lead, before Floriana scored a face-saving goal for the game to end 3-1.
Obiefule told MTNFootball.com he delighted that he has maintained his top form in front of goal.
He said “It was a good game where we gave a good account of ourselves. I am happy that I am in top form which I hope to maintain while I am here.
“I will keep doing my best to lift Mosta in all the games I play.”
Dickson Etuhu was the goal scorer for Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship 1-1 draw away to Charlton Athletic.
The former Fulham midfielder was an unlikely hero when he found the back of the net in the 16th minute.
Jude Nworah was also on song for his Danish team when he scored for AC Horsen against FC Copenhagen in 1-1 draw. Nworah struck in the 33rd minute.
