Del Bosque: Real Madrid can score two or three goals at home against Bayern
Spain boss Vicente del Bosque believes that Real Madrid can overturn a one-goal deficit in their Champions League semi-final tie against Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga club currently hold a 2-1 advantage thanks to goals from Franck Ribery and Mario Gomez at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.
Del Bosque believes that Madrid did not deserve to lose the match and expects Jose Mourinho’s men to bounce back in the return leg next week.
“Matches between historic clubs can always go against your predictions,” he told Kicker.
“It was a great match, but it would have been fairer if it had ended in a draw.
“Mesut Ozil’s goal leaves Madrid with a lot of chances, because they have incredible attacking potential.
“Scoring two or three goals at home is something that Madrid normally do.”
A goalless draw will be enough for Bayern to progress to the final, but Del Bosque does not think that the Germans will play a defensive game at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Neither Madrid nor Bayern can go against what they have shown this season,” the 61-year-old noted.
“Both coaches will make sure that happens.”
Del Bosque then dismissed the notion that Jupp Heynckes’ spell at Madrid gives Bayern an advantage in the continental tie.
“Football is more transparent nowadays, because of TV,” he explained. “I do not think that Heynckes knows more about Madrid than Jose Mourinho does about Bayern.”
The return fixture at the Bernabeu is scheduled for April 25.
