Feedback from prayer initiative positive, says NPP
The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, says the feedback from the ongoing national prayer exercise of the party has been positive.
The spiritual exercise which started on August 20 involves all night vigils and dawn prayers by Christians. Muslims are also reciting the Quran every first Friday of every month.
The move, according to the NPP is to seek the Lord’s favour in their quest to win the 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Speaking to Citi News, Mr Owusu Afriyie said despite snide comments from their political opponents, the NPP will continue to seek divine help and guidance for the party’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, and all members of the party.
“The feedback is good. Various individuals come together and pray for the party, Nana Akufo-Addo and the nation. We don’t have any format, the Muslims are doing it, the Christians are also doing it. There is one that is held at the Party Headquarters, that is the one that I attend almost every day Monday to Friday, 4am up to 5:30.
“We want God to ensure that the nation is at peace with itself, and that the people of this country also do prosper in their own individual ways, and that 2012 elections would be peaceful, and the country would continue to grow from strength to strength.”
