JAKA Investment, organizers of Ghana Gospel Music Awards, in collaboration with the Zoom Alliance, launched the maiden edition of the awards at a high-profile ceremony at the premises of JAKA Investment in Accra last Thursday night.
The launch brought together a number of showbiz personalities, individuals from the business community, majority of who were title sponsors of the awards.
The awards ceremony, slated for November 25, at the Accra International Conference Centre, will reward deserving artistes for their hard work, dedication and contribution to the gospel music industry.
The maiden edition of the Ghana Gospel Music Awards, according to the organizers, will be exciting; citing some changes in the event’s organization.
The launch attracted gospel music giants like Mary Ghansah, Kofi Sarpong, Reverend Yawson, Bernice Offei, Bernice Ansah, Nacy among others.
This event which is expected to attract Ghana’s top gospel musicians, stakeholders in the music and copyright sector, journalists and a cross-section of the general public, was necessitated by organizers’ desire and determination to recognize excellence in gospel music that has won the hearts of fans in Ghana and beyond.
The event, which is being organized JAKA Investment is to celebrate and appreciate pioneers of gospel music and to reward individuals who, in diverse ways promote gospel music in the country. It is also aimed at raising the standard of Ghanaian gospel music and would be held annually.
The awards have been classified under 13 categories which include All-time Best Gospel/Choir Group, All-time Best Gospel Video, All-time Best Male, All-time Best Female, Discovery, Contemporary, Best Africa and All-time Song.
